Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how NotiTrove (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the mobile application NotiTrove — Notification History (the “App”). By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described below. The App is intended for users aged 18 and over and is offered free of charge, supported by advertising, with an optional paid subscription that removes ads and unlocks additional features.

The short version. NotiTrove records the notifications your device receives so you can search and revisit them later. That notification history is stored only on your device — we never upload, sell, or share its contents. We do not require an account and we do not collect your location. Like most free apps, NotiTrove uses Google services (ads, analytics, and crash reporting) that collect limited technical and advertising data, as described below.

1. The notification-access permission

NotiTrove's core purpose is to keep a history of your notifications. To do this, the App uses Android's Notification Listener permission (BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE), which you must explicitly grant in your device settings. While this permission is enabled, Android allows the App to read notifications posted to your device, including the posting app's name, the notification title and text, any associated small image, the category, and the time it was posted.

This information is saved only in a private database on your device. It is not transmitted to us, to our servers, or to any advertising or analytics partner. We have no access to the content of your notifications. The data leaves your device only if you choose to export it (see Section 2.1). The App does not include your notification history in Android's automatic cloud backup.

Notifications can contain sensitive information (for example, message previews, one-time passcodes, or financial alerts). Because that content stays on your device, protecting access to your device — with a screen lock and by reviewing which apps you grant notification access to — is the most important safeguard. You can revoke NotiTrove's notification access at any time in your device settings, and you can delete saved notifications from within the App.

2. Information we collect

We do not require you to create an account or submit personal information directly to use the App. Information falls into two groups: data that stays on your device, and limited technical and advertising data collected automatically by the third-party services the App uses.

2.1 On-device data (not transmitted to us)

This data remains on your device and is removed when you clear the App's storage or uninstall the App.

2.2 Device and technical information

2.3 Advertising identifiers

2.4 Usage and interaction data

This usage data describes how you interact with the App. It does not include the contents of your captured notifications.

2.5 Push notification token

If you allow notifications, the App registers a device-specific push token with Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send occasional updates about the App. You can disable these at any time from your device's notification settings.

2.6 Purchase information

If you buy a subscription, the transaction is processed by Google Play Billing. Google handles your payment details; we do not receive or store your card or bank information. We receive a purchase token and your subscription status so the App can unlock paid features and verify that your subscription is active.

3. How we use information

4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

For users located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases under the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”):

Your notification history is processed entirely on your device under your control and is not transmitted to us.

5. Third-party services

The App relies on the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy (linked below) and may collect information directly from your device. None of them receives the contents of your captured notifications.

ServicePurposeTheir privacy policy
Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) Ad network — serves native, app-open, and interstitial ads. policies.google.com/privacy
Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) Gathers GDPR / US-state consent choices and stores them on your device. policies.google.com/privacy
Firebase (Google) — Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config App analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, push notifications, and remote configuration. firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Google Play Billing (Google) Processes subscription purchases and reports subscription status. policies.google.com/privacy
Google Play Services (Google) Platform service that powers Firebase, Google Mobile Ads, and the consent platform. policies.google.com/privacy

We do not sell or rent your personal information to any third party. The only parties that receive data from the App are the service providers listed above, and only to perform the functions described.

5.1 Google Play Services

As part of providing the features above, Google Play Services may automatically collect your device's IP address, your Android Advertising ID, your device model and operating system version, app-installation status, and crash diagnostic data. This information is processed by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy.

6. Personalized vs. non-personalized advertising

Where required by law (for example, for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or US states with applicable privacy laws), we ask you to choose whether you consent to personalized advertising the first time you open the App. You can change your choice at any time through your device's Reset advertising ID setting.

Subscribers on the ad-free plan do not see ads at all.

7. Your rights

7.1 European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland (GDPR)

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Because your notification history lives only on your device, you can exercise access, erasure, and portability for it directly: view and delete items in the App, delete all history from Settings, or export your history with the Export feature. To exercise rights over the limited data held by our service providers, email helpatnotification@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7.2 California and other US states

If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, Montana, or another US state with applicable privacy laws, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and share; to request access to and deletion of your personal information; to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising; and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

We do not sell personal information for monetary value. However, the use of advertising identifiers for personalized advertising may be considered “sharing” under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the CPRA. To opt out, decline personalized ads in the in-app consent dialog or email helpatnotification@gmail.com.

8. Permissions the App requests

9. International data transfers

Our advertising and analytics partners listed in Section 5 may store and process information in the United States, the European Union, and other countries where they operate data centers. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA / UK, our partners rely on legal mechanisms recognized under GDPR (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect that data. Your notification history is not transferred, because it stays on your device.

10. Data retention

11. Security

Your notification history is stored in the App's private storage area, which on Android is accessible only to the App. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by the App, including secure transport (HTTPS) for data exchanged with our service providers. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Anyone with access to your unlocked device may be able to view your saved notifications, so we recommend using a device screen lock.

12. Children's privacy

The App is not intended for and is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” shown in the Contact section below indicates when it was last revised. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notice or update screen. Continued use of the App after a change becomes effective means you accept the revised policy.
